The start of after-school programming at Thomas O'Brien Academy of Science and Technology will be delayed until Monday, Sept. 30 to provide additional time for the program to meet new required state regulations.
The state Office of Children and Family Services advised us this week that the program, a partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Albany, currently does not meet requirements for facilities and program staffing. We anticipate that those matters will be resolved this week and the OCFS inspection process completed next week.
We will provide an update early next week about that timeline, including any potential changes to our planned start date of Sept. 30.
Please note that this matter applies only to new requirements for after-school programming. Our building has met all required state guidelines for our regular school operations.
We apologize for this delayed start for our after-school program. We appreciate your patience and support.
