The City School District of Albany Board of Education has appointed Christina Zontini as the new assistant principal at Thomas O'Brien Academy of Technology. She will take the place of Assistant Principal Meghan D’Alessandro, who is leaving this winter to become the new principal at Pine Hills Elementary School.
Zontini will start at TOAST on Jan. 2, when we return from the holiday break.
Zontini has extensive experience in serving English-language learners in our school district. She is currently a biliteracy instructional coach at Albany International Academy, a position she’s held since October 2023. Before that, she taught fourth and sixth grade at the former Albany International Center, and fourth grade in the Dual Language Program in its previous location at Delaware Community School.
She also served as an English as a New Language teacher at William S. Hackett Middle School.
In addition, Zontini coordinated Newcomer Summer School from 2019-21, and taught summer school at a variety of district buildings before that. She joined the district in 2012 as a substitute teacher.
Zontini holds a bachelor’s degree in childhood education and special education from The College of Saint Rose, as well as a master’s degree in teaching English to students of other languages from the University at Albany. She holds school district and school building leadership certifications from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
We look forward to welcoming her to our school community!
