Albany High School

Spring Dance Concert

May 18

6:30 pm

Albany High School performers will take part in a spring dance concert on May 18 at 6:30 p.m. featuring works by students and professional choreographers.

Students from Just Dance! classes and the Cinema-Dance-Musical-Theater Club will perform under the direction of teacher Omonike Akinyemi.

The show includes:

  • “Caribbean Suite” (choreographed by Charles Moore and Tina Ramirez), with both African-Caribbean dance and ballet;
  • “Nightbloom II” (choreographed by Manuel Alum), with asymmetrical modern dance;
  • “Who do you think you are, the Chevalier?” (choreographed by Akinyemi), with a mix of hip-hop, African dance and a classical ballet waltz;
  • “A Night in Sevilla”(choreographed by Akinyemi and her students), with flamenco dance; and
  • Student debut works in contemporary and jazz dance.

Albany High’s advanced orchestra also will provide live music for the show. In addition, dancers will be joined by musicians and performers from Artpartners-Tsehaya & Co Inc. and Image Quilt Dance Theater.

All are welcome! There is no charge, but donations to support Falcon dance programs will be gratefully accepted.
